Called to Serve. Chosen to Lead. Committed to the Kingdom.
Minister A.D. James is a young preacher, worship leader, and musician with a heart for ministry and a passion for reaching the next generation. A native of Conway, South Carolina, Minister James has dedicated his life to serving God through preaching, music, youth ministry, and community leadership.
His foundation in ministry is continuing to be developed at St. John Church of God, affectionately known as “The Breeding Place,” under the leadership of his pastor and grandfather, Bishop Melvin R. Spain. Through years of faithful service, Minister James has served in numerous capacities and currently serves as Youth Department President, working to encourage young people to develop an authentic relationship with Christ and discover their God-given purpose.
Minister James is also gifted in the ministry of music. His passion for worship has allowed him to serve through praise and worship, choir ministry, and as Minister of Music for the General Assembly Church of God. Whether behind the keyboard, leading worship, or standing behind the sacred desk, his desire remains the same: to create an atmosphere where lives can be changed through the presence and power of God.
After acknowledging his call to ministry as a child, Minister James continued preparing himself spiritually for the assignment God placed upon his life. On September 6, 2026, he delivered his initial sermon, marking another significant step in his ministerial journey.
Beyond the walls of the church, Minister James has a passion for young people and community development. His professional work with the Boys & Girls Club of the Grand Strand has allowed him to mentor, encourage, and provide leadership to children, teenagers, families, and staff throughout the community.
Minister A.D. James believes ministry extends far beyond a title or a pulpit, it is a life of service. His desire is to remain available to God, empower the next generation, and faithfully proclaim the Gospel wherever God provides an opportunity.
His favorite scripture, Romans 6:23, serves as a continual reminder of the message at the center of his ministry:
“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
As Minister James continues to walk in his calling, his prayer is simple: that God receives the glory, lives are transformed, and everything entrusted to his hands advances the Kingdom of God.
